Fourth District GOP Salutes "Chief" Heineman
RALEIGH, N.C. - March 22, 2010 - The Fourth Congressional District of the North Carolina Republican Party salutes Congressman Fred Heineman, former Chief of the Raleigh Police Department and member of US House of Representatives from 1994-96, at the announcement of his passing.“The ‘Chief’ was one-of-a-kind and we salute his service to our city, state and district,” said Zan Bunn, Chair of the Fourth District Executive Committee. “Everyone remembers how Fred won election to the US House of Representatives in 1994, and served the people of the 4th District admirably. Thank you, Chief!”
Prior to his election to Congress, Heineman served as the Chief of Raleigh Police Department for 15 years. A Marine veteran and native of New York, Heineman spent his final years in Wake County, always willing to share a good story or a good laugh.
